Hip-Hop(e)

This class is centered in Hip Hop. However, Hip-Hop(e) stands for “Hip Hop Education”. This class focuses on increasing literacy, numeracy, writing conventions, artistic expression, public speaking, dance and movement to increase student’s knowledge on Hip-Hop history and culture. In this course, students will analyze the origins, foundational values, and current aspects of Hip Hop culture. Hip Hop music will be presented and analyzed and students will have an opportunity to learn how to increase their Hop-Hop skill sets including rapping, dancing, graffiti, and deejaying as means to increase our connections to each other and our culture.



Social Emotional Learning

Social-emotional learning (SEL) is the process of developing the self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work, and life success. People with strong social-emotional skills are better able to cope with everyday challenges and benefit academically, professionally, and socially. This class allows students to develop their social emotional skills in ways that are best suited for their needs and comfort levels.
